Artistory
Artistory is a music-based fantasy app that lets users build brackets and compete through artist matchups. The goal was to turn music fandom into a fast, engaging, and competitive experience without overwhelming users with complexity.
I designed the end-to-end UX and UI, focusing on clarity, momentum, and emotional engagement.
The Challenge
Music is subjective and emotional, while brackets and competitions are structured by nature.
The main challenge was translating that emotional decision-making into a clear, intuitive product that feels playful rather than analytical.
Key questions I focused on:
How do users compare artists quickly and confidently?
How do we keep the experience fun instead of mentally heavy?
How do we encourage repeat engagement?
My Approach
I designed Artistory around three core principles:
Clarity over complexity
Break down brackets and matchups into simple, focused steps so users only make one decision at a time.Momentum over friction
Reduce interruptions and keep users moving through fast interactions, immediate feedback, and smooth transitions.Emotion through visuals
Use bold imagery, contrast, and expressive UI to match the energy of music culture and competition.
Outcome & Learnings
Artistory delivers a competitive music experience that feels intuitive, expressive, and engaging.
This project reinforced the importance of sequencing complexity, designing for emotion, and using visual confidence to support decision-making.
